After two years at the helm of the Italian National Tourism Agency, the mandate of Alessandra Priante comes to an end. The president communicated her decision to the Minister of Tourism, Gianmarco Mazzi, and to the Board of Directors, outlining a balance of the activities carried out and highlighting the main results achieved during her term.
A journey that, in Priante's own words, has helped strengthen Italy's positioning in international contexts and consolidate the Agency's role as a strategic player in promoting the national tourism system.
«I conclude this journey with gratitude, serenity, and the pride of handing over a more solid institution than I found it», Priante declared in the message announcing the end of her mandate.
Appointed in 2024, the president claimed the work done to strengthen Italy's presence in the main international tourism organizations, where strategies and development lines for the sector are defined globally. A commitment also matured thanks to decades of experience in international organizations, which has helped guide the Agency's actions towards greater integration in global decision-making processes.
«We have worked to ensure that Italy occupies the place it deserves in international forums where the future of tourism is decided - she emphasized -. Italian tourism is today one of the great success stories of the country, a sector capable of generating value, employment, and prestige even in the most complex moments». The Agency has strengthened its presence on the international stage, increasing its ability to represent Italy in the main contexts of comparison and cooperation in the tourism sector. At the same time, awareness of tourism as a strategic asset for the country's economic development has grown. A journey that fits into a phase of profound transformation of the sector, where competition among destinations increasingly hinges on global positioning capability and the quality of institutional governance.
In her farewell message, Priante wanted to express gratitude to the main institutions involved in the tourism sector, starting with the President of the Council Giorgia Meloni, who appointed her to lead the Agency. She also expressed a wish for whoever will be called to lead the Agency in the coming years, namely to continue investing in young people and training as strategic levers to strengthen the competitiveness of Italian tourism.
Thanks were also extended to the Ministers of Tourism Daniela Santanchè and Gianmarco Mazzi, to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to Deputy Gianluca Caramanna, to the Regions, to trade associations, and to the entire tourism supply chain.
Words of appreciation were also directed to the Board of Directors, the management, and the employees of the Agency, identified as a fundamental part of the work carried out during the mandate.
Having concluded her experience at the helm of ENIT S.p.A, the manager is now preparing for a new phase of her professional journey. She will return to engage in academic activities and roles in international institutions, while still maintaining a connection with the tourism sector.
A perspective that recalls one of the central themes of the current phase of the sector: the ability to combine internationalization, innovation, and human capital to support the growth of tourism in the long term.
