A unique experience among the scents of the harvest, authentic flavors, unforgettable landscapes, and villages rich in history, a journey that stays in the hearts of those who travel it. We are talking about the Prosecco Trail, a sensory journey that offers those who undertake it indelible memories.
The best time to experience this adventure that engages all the senses, in addition to spring, is autumn, when the hills of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano are painted in warm golden and red colors, creating landscapes that seem painted, while the vineyards mature the grapes ready for harvest. This walking and cycling itinerary is not just a path through hills and villages, but an immersion in the history, culture, and nature of a region recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Every step offers suggestive glimpses of the surrounding hills, ancient villages, and historic wineries. Far from the frantic pace of everyday life, each stretch among the vineyards conveys a sense of peace and authenticity, transforming the journey into a true sensory experience.
In addition to the landscape, the Prosecco Trail offers encounters with local culture and history. For example, villages like Asolo, the “city of a hundred horizons,” and Conegliano, famous for its wine school, tell centuries of history. Along the route, wineries open their doors for guided tastings, allowing visitors to discover the characteristics of Prosecco DOCG, from the freshest and fruitiest wines to the most complex and structured ones, and to learn about traditional winemaking techniques.
Beyond wine, the route offers encounters with art and history: medieval castles, ancient churches, and historic bridges alternate with woods and panoramic trails. Every step becomes an immersion in the culture and natural beauty of the region, making the journey a multisensory experience.
The Prosecco Trail promotes slow and sustainable tourism, enhancing local productions. The accommodations along the route offer hospitality in harmony with the environment, allowing visitors to experience the territory authentically.
Comfortable shoes, layered clothing, light equipment, and water: just a few precautions are enough to fully experience the emotions of a path that crosses one of the most suggestive cultural landscapes in Italy.
Moreover, the experience in the Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene is increasingly becoming destagionalized, with significant increases even in the winter months. January 2024 recorded a +17.3% increase in arrivals compared to the previous year, February a +17%, while March marked an exceptional +30.3%.
What is particularly surprising is the great international participation: the Trail welcomed visitors from 40 foreign countries: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Spain, and Switzerland, demonstrating the strong European and overseas appeal that this itinerary has managed to generate. There were also walkers from countries such as Australia, Brazil, Taiwan, South Africa, and Canada.
The route, which stretches for 51 km, can be completed in several days; however, it is also possible to explore individual sections in half a day.
