He taught Tourism Analytics and Digital Strategies for Tourism in the Master's Degree in Tourism Economics and is a Research Fellow at the Dondena Center for Research on Social Dynamics and Public Policies at Bocconi University in Milan. He has been working in information technology and telematics networks for over thirty years, with experience in various companies, both in Italy and abroad. His research focuses on the transformations that information technology has brought to the world of tourism and the study of complex systems and networks with the application of analysis and simulation models for tourist destinations. He has published half a dozen books and around a hundred articles for international conferences and scientific journals. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a member of the Italian Physical Society, of IFITT (International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism), and was a founding member of Società Internet, the Italian chapter of the Internet Society. In 2017, he received the Hannes Werthner Tourism and Technology Lifetime Achievement Award from IFITT.
