Born into a modest yet large family, he appreciated the unexpected success that came in the 1980s when, in his early twenties, he founded El Charroche, which quickly became a leading leather goods brand and a trendsetter.
Just as his company was at its peak, a call to the essential and a profound need for renewal drove its creator to leave everything behind and set sail on a world tour. More than a vacation, it was a journey of self-discovery, a long journey lasting about two years that led Marcello Murzilli to cross oceans and experience diverse cultures.
It was there, in one of his most distant destinations, that the change of direction and the great challenge occurred: the creation of Hotelito in Mexico. Born from the idea of combining entrepreneurial experience with that gained on a lifelong journey, the small dream transformed into a luxury lodge built on wood and mud stilts, which has become one of the most renowned eco-resorts in the world.
As in Mexico, adventure, a spirit of sharing, and the desire to create a small oasis of peace in the heart of an enchanting location were the inputs that drove the Italian entrepreneur to create the Eremito Hotelito del Alma in Umbria.
"To those who ask me, after a life spent at sea, how I managed to give up the blue of the ocean, I always reply that for me this is my ocean, my green ocean, made of trees, streams, and shrubs; its waves are precisely the ridges of the green, wooded hills that surround our Eremito."
After four years of relentless work, the emotion was translated into sacrifice and passion. Today, amidst those enchanting and pristine valleys, the Eremito has rediscovered its authentic splendor: a contemporary hermitage that unites the world of nature and which, thanks to the help of a tireless team of men, has transformed from an abandoned ruin into a prestigious historic residence.
