Outdoor tourism continues its momentum. In the summer of 2025, the open air holiday sector open air — which includes campsites, holiday villages, campers, caravans, and mobile homes — reached a total of 8.5 billion euros in direct, indirect, and induced revenue. This result marks a growth of 6.3% compared to the previous year, confirming the strategic role of this segment in the Italian tourism landscape.
According to estimates by Faita - Federcamping, based on data from HBenchmark and Ciset Ca’ Foscari, total attendance reached 74 million overnight stays, an increase of 3.3% over 2024. Translated into concrete terms: about one million more overnight stays compared to the previous season. In particular, there is an increase in both domestic and foreign demand, with a strong growth of Austrians and Italians, among the most loyal to the open air tourism formula.
The numbers were presented by Alberto Granzotto, president of Faita Federcamping, during the Open Air Forum 2025, held in collaboration with Intesa Sanpaolo and Crippaconcept, an Italian SME leader in the production of mobile homes.
«The year 2025 has been a positive season, in the sign of continuity with the records set by open air in the last three years — commented Granzotto —. This momentum is transforming into structural development, rewarding the investments made by our companies to raise the level of the offer and improve sustainability, accessibility, and digitalization performance».
The trend confirms that open air holidays are no longer a niche, but a conscious choice of an increasingly attentive audience to quality, experience, and sustainability. Campsites and villages are indeed evolving towards modern and digitized accommodation models, capable of combining comfort and respect for the environment.
