Lucca Comics & Games 2025 confirms itself as the largest community event in the West and transforms the Tuscan city into an international destination for tourists and enthusiasts. Until Sunday, November 2, Lucca will be immersed in the world of creativity and imagination, with events, shows, games, manga, comics, cosplay parades, and celebrations attracting visitors from all over Italy and abroad.
Yesterday, at the Teatro del Giglio Giacomo Puccini, the inaugural ceremony took place with honored guests such as Rébecca Dautremer, the author of the festival's official poster, and director Luc Besson. The 59th edition pays tribute to France with the theme “French Kiss,” a title that celebrates the bande dessinée while simultaneously uniting universal creativity and cultural openness.
Lucca Comics & Games confirms its role as an international comic hub, hosting hundreds of authors from around the world, the best of Italian and international comic production, publishers, monographic pavilions, previews, exclusive variants, special editions, and hundreds of unique meetings. The event not only enhances culture and creativity but also generates a significant economic and tourist impact: restaurants, hotels, transportation, and local activities report an increase in visitor flows, confirming the festival as a powerful driver for the city's cultural tourism.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by the French ambassador to Rome Martin Briens, Mayor Mario Pardini, festival director Emanuele Vietina, sole administrator of Lucca Crea Nicola Lucchesi, and the Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli, who emphasized how Lucca is now the world capital of comics and the arts of imagination. «Comics is a universal language, an educational tool, and it unites generations. The Ministry of Culture has allocated over 700,000 euros to support the comic industry and related events, and will continue to promote one of the most vibrant cultural industries in the Nation, starting with the future Museum of Comics that will be built right in Lucca».
For director Vietina, the festival is “a labor of love”: «Our festival is this, a shared search for happiness, passions, an intertwining of stories and bonds. It arises from inspiration, from the meeting of enthusiasts and artists, transforming the city into a space of shared creativity and discovery».
Every year, Lucca Comics & Games generates a unique mix of art, community, and tourism, strengthening the link between culture and local development, and making the city an international reference point for those who love imagination and visual arts.
